Schwing, St. Stefan im Lavanttal, December 4, 2025 – CSSP Holding GmbH has successfully acquired the SCHWING Group’s production site in St. Stefan im Lavanttal. With the closing, the entire operation has been transferred to the CSSP Group. The site will now operate under the name SST Stahl GmbH St. Stefan.
With this acquisition, CSSP Holding GmbH has assumed the role of the new owner, replacing the SCHWING Group. The CSSP Group is taking over the site, the entire workforce, and the company’s operations, including all customer relationships.
The former SCHWING site possesses extensive expertise and experience in steel construction, engineering, and the machining of complex, large components, as well as in the production of heavy steel and mechanical engineering components.
CSSP Holding GmbH plans to strategically and, above all, sustainably develop the site and invest more heavily in high-growth industries, particularly in the defense and infrastructure sectors, where there is currently a high demand for specialized manufacturing capacity in Europe. Furthermore, existing manufacturing contracts for the SCHWING Group will be continued.
For the SCHWING Group, the closing marks the beginning of a smooth transition:
„The acquisition by the CSSP Group secures the future of the site and opens up new industrial opportunities,“ explains Chengyu Zhang, Managing Director of the Schwing Stetter Group in Herne. „The existing structures, the expertise of the employees, and the strong industrial focus of the CSSP Group provide an ideal foundation for the site’s further development.“
The CSSP Group is also optimistic about the future:
“With the acquisition of Schwing St. Stefan, we are creating a strong, future-oriented industrial site within the CSSP Group. The St. Stefan site offers excellent foundations – highly qualified employees, modern manufacturing facilities, and in-depth engineering and production expertise,” says Dr. Siegmund Rudigier, Managing Partner of CSSP Holding GmbH. “This will allow us to further develop our operations, particularly in the areas of defense, infrastructure, construction, and heavy machinery, and to strengthen and position the site as a high-performing specialist manufacturer in Europe.”
With the acquisition now complete, the site is permanently integrated into the CSSP Group and will continue to operate as SST Stahl GmbH St. Stefan.
